At Mashinani Youth Voices, we recognize the potential & aspirations of young people in Kenya and is committed to supporting them in their journey towards financial independence.
Our work focuses primarily on grassroots communities, targeting unemployed and underemployed youth, young entrepreneurs and youth groups. We operate at the local level with a vision of national impact.
Our interventions help to expand employment opportunities for young people by strengthening their entrepreneurial capacity and supporting the growth of sustainable youth-led enterprises. This is achieved through provision of business capital, business development training and mentorship to help youth transform their ideas into realities.
Kenya’s massive and growing youth population represents a tremendous opportunity to accelerate economic & social progress but the current crisis of high unemployment and underemployment of youth across the country jeopardizes these development prospects.
Lack of resources, uncertainty, fear of failure and the absence of role models are the major barriers hindering youth from entering the business space.
Most young people in the developing world face little prospect of obtaining a job in the formal sector and for many, self-employment is the only option. The consequence of youth unemployment extends beyond financial instability, it can lead to social unrest, increased crime rates and a general sense of hopelessness among young people.
Addressing this issue therefore is not just a matter of economic necessity but a moral imperative that requires immediate attention and action.
The overall goal of this program is to respond to youth unemployment & challenges in access to opportunities by empowering youth to create business opportunities & decent employment. It is a signature effort to invest in youths who will shape the future of entrepreneurship in Kenya.

Helping young people to earn a living through entrepreneurship can therefore make a crucial contribution to poverty reduction. Young entrepreneurs have the power to boost employment and drive economic growth, their fresh perspectives and bold ideas also have the potential to reshape industries and societies for the better.
Our program ensures that all young people with entrepreneurial ambitions, regardless of their education level, can access training, mentorship and funding opportunities to build sustainable businesses.
